Free Spirit was born from real life, real kids, and a deep belief in the power of movement. What started as a vision for our own family has grown into a place where thousands of kids and parents come to move, connect, and grow together.
We are Seth and Rachel, parents, coaches, and the founders of Free Spirit. Before Free Spirit existed, we were simply looking for something better for our kids.
Raising Kids in a World That Needed More Movement
Like many parents, we noticed how quickly childhood was becoming more sedentary. Screens were everywhere. Structured activities often felt overly competitive or rigid. Indoor play spaces were loud, chaotic, or focused on entertainment rather than development.
At the same time, we saw how powerful movement was for our own kids. Climbing, swinging, balancing, rolling, and exploring helped them regulate emotions, build confidence, and develop resilience. Movement wasn’t just exercise. It was how they learned about themselves and the world.
We wanted a space where kids could move freely and purposefully, and where families felt welcomed and supported.
Creating a Space Where Kids Could Grow Up
Free Spirit was designed as a kids gym where children could truly grow up. Not just attend a class or drop in occasionally, but return week after week, year after year, building skills, friendships, and confidence over time.
Our kids grew up in the gym. They learned how to try hard things, how to fall and get back up, how to support others, and how to celebrate progress. They experienced firsthand how movement builds both physical strength and emotional resilience.
Watching our own children thrive in this environment reinforced what we already believed: kids need spaces that honor their whole development.
More Than a Kids Gym
From the beginning, Free Spirit was never meant to be just a kids fitness center. We intentionally blended ninja style movement, yoga, and creative play to support kids at every stage of development.
The gym became a place where toddlers took their first confident steps, kids tackled obstacle courses, and parents found space to reconnect with their own bodies through yoga. Families moved together. They celebrated milestones together. They built community through shared experiences.
This approach turned Free Spirit into a family fitness destination rather than a single program or activity.
Designing With Intention
Every element of Free Spirit was designed with care. From the layout of the indoor play space to the way classes flow, the goal has always been to create an environment that feels uplifting, organized, and welcoming.
We wanted parents to feel comfortable and confident bringing their kids into the space. We wanted kids to feel empowered, not overwhelmed. We wanted the gym to support connection, not chaos.
This intentional design is one of the reasons families return again and again.
A Philosophy Built on Real Life
Free Spirit’s philosophy comes directly from our experiences as parents. We understand the challenges families face. We know how important it is to feel supported, seen, and understood.
Movement at Free Spirit is not about perfection or performance. It is about exploration, effort, and growth. Kids are encouraged to move at their own pace, try new things, and build confidence through experience.
This mindset shapes everything we do, from classes and camps to birthday parties and private events.
Why This Matters for Franchise Owners
For those exploring kids franchise opportunities, our story matters. Free Spirit is not a trend or a generic business model. It is a kids fitness franchise built on lived experience, family values, and a deep understanding of what kids and parents need.
Franchise owners are not just opening a gym. They are bringing a meaningful space into their community. A place where kids grow stronger, families connect, and movement becomes a lifelong gift.
We are deeply invested in supporting franchise owners who share this vision and want to make a lasting impact.
Growing the Free Spirit Community
Today, Free Spirit continues to grow, but the heart of the brand remains the same. It is still about kids moving with confidence, parents feeling supported, and families finding connection through movement.
What began with our own family has expanded into a larger community, united by the belief that movement matters.
Free Spirit exists because kids deserve spaces where they can thrive, and families deserve environments that support them every step of the way.
